Open Access in Horizon Europe

The beneficiary must ensure open access to peer-reviewed scientific publications concerning their results. In particular, it must provide:

  • that at the latest, when publishing the publication, deposit the AAM (accepted author manuscript) or VoR (version of record) in a trusted repository + ensure open access through a repository under a CC BY license or equivalent
  • information through the repository on all research outputs/tools needed to verify the conclusions of the scientific publication

The metadata must be open under a CC 0 license or equivalent following FAIR principles and must provide, among other things, information on the license conditions.

H2020 vs. Horizon Europe:

  • Hybrid OA journals are not considered like „eligible costs“
  • Without embargo period (Inmidiate OA) → ORE
  • CC-BY for articles
  • CC-BY-NC/ND for monography
  • „Trusted repository“ („certified“, ZENODO, institutional)
  • Suitable IPR management in orfer to meet project conditions

Open Research Europe (ORE)

ORE is the Open Access publication platform for beneficiaries of grants from the programs Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. ORE is publication platform (not a repository) for original articles from all scientific areas of the programs Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.

  • Possibility to publish without costs (during and after the grant), no administrative burden
  • Immediate open access with content that is licensed for reuse
  • Open peer-review (i.e. open identity of reviewers, published reviews, post-publication comments)
