Research Data Management in Horizon Europe
The beneficiary must manage the digital research data generated by the project responsibly following the FAIR principles:
- create + regularly update the Data Management Plan ("DMP") for the generated (and/or collected) data
- store the data in a trusted repository (EOSC, if required by the terms of the call) as soon as possible and within the deadlines set out in the DMP + ensure open access under CC BY license, CC 0 or equivalent according to the principle open as open as possible as closed as necessary ’
- provide information through the repository of any research output / tools needed to reuse or verify the data
Metadata must be opened under a CC 0 license or equivalent (to the extent that legitimate interests or restrictions are protected), in accordance with FAIR principles, and must provide, among other things, information on license conditions.
- Data may be closed if:
- the provision of open access is contrary to the legitimate interests of the recipient, including the interests of commercial exploitation;
- it is contrary to any other restrictions, such as data protection rules, privacy, confidentiality, trade secrets, the Union's competitive interests, security rules, intellectual property rights, or would be contrary to other obligations under the grant agreement
H2020 vs. Horizon Europe:
- There is not already opt-out mode and closing the data needs to be explained ("as open as possible, as closed as necessary„)
- Principles FAIR a DMP during reporting (regularly update)
- European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) – for some calls
- CC0/CC-BY
- Each article must have available validation data that is discussed in the publication, unless an exception applies
