Open Access
- KAPPA – obligation to ensure open access to all peer-reviewed articles (type J) and to supporting data.
SIGMA – obligation to ensure open access to results of types Jimp, JSC, Jost, Nmap, Npam, NmetA, NmetC, NmetS, and to the essential data required for their verification. - Procedure:
- Save the final version of the text and the data in a repository.
- Make them accessible within 6 months (for SSH fields within 12 months) of publication/completion, and no later than the end of the project.
- License according to the recipient’s choice (CC recommended).
- The obligation to deposit in a repository also applies when using the gold OA route (publication in an open-access journal).
Open data
- Principle: “as open as possible, as closed as necessary”
Exceptions: protection of intellectual property, personal data, trade secrets, national security, etc. - If access is not possible, it must be justified in the DMP and at least the metadata should be published.
- Manage data according to FAIR principles.
Data management plan (DMP)
- KAPPA – submit within 6 months of the project start.
SIGMA – submit with the first interim report. - Content: types of data, management methods, sharing methods, storage during the project, and archiving after completion.
- The DMP is regularly updated.
- The TA CR form or the EC (Horizon Europe) template may be used.
Identifiers and Licenses
- Outputs and data should be assigned a persistent identifier (e.g., DOI).
- It is recommended not to transfer copyright, granting only a license to publish.
Costs
- Eligible costs: OA publication fees (both fully open and hybrid journals), data preparation and storage, creation and management of the DMP.
