Citizen Science Over Coffee: When One Scientist Isn't Enough
April is dedicated to citizen science, which connects researchers with the public and shows that high-quality data and new knowledge can emerge beyond academia.
On November 7, 2020, from 10:00 to 16:00 via the online video conferencing platform in cooperation with the OpenAlt conference.
We invite all those interested in open science and open scientific data to participate in the OpenAIRE National Workshop 2020 on Saturday, November 7, 2020. The workshop will feature lectures from many areas of Open Science – you will get acquainted with the European OpenAIRE project, which provides support for Open Science across Europe, including a regional support point in the Czech Republic, you will learn the results of a survey of data repositories in the Czech Republic, learn about Creative Commons licenses for use in science and learn how to modernize management planning using technical tools such as Data Stewardship Wizzard.
The event will take place online, participation is free, registration is not required. The event is organized by the OpenAIRE Advance project, technically in cooperation with the OpenAlt 2020 conference. More information can be found on the event's website.
OpenAIRE (Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe) is an initiative funded by the European Commission and aims to support the European Commission's Open Access policy. Support is provided through the technical infrastructure of OpenAIRE services, including the OpenAIRE Research Graph, which aggregates research (meta)data in Europe obtained by the OpenAIRE infrastructure into an open data source – a semantic graph. OpenAIRE is also an open repository of Zenodo research data. In addition to technical services, OpenAIRE also covers a network of Open Science experts across Europe who provide expert advice, organize workshops and webinars, prepare manuals and guides, FAQs and run an open science helpdesk. Within the Czech Republic, the OpenAIRE National Open Access Desk (OpenAIRE NOAD-CZ) is operated by the Institute of Computer Science of Masaryk University. Questions should be sent to openaire@space.muni.cz.
OpenAIRE-Advance receives funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and
Innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 777541.

ORCID iD is becoming a key tool for uniquely identifying researchers and connecting their outputs across systems. The text explains why its importance is growing in the Czech research environment, how it contributes to better tracking of scientific outputs, and how it fits into the broader ecosystem of persistent identifiers. It also shows that ORCID is gradually moving from individual use to systematic integration within institutional infrastructure.
